Oh lordy, it's been a loooooong time since I've updated. Too much to say....
I suppose I could rant on and on about the state of dance music in Chicago since my last major gig. The item directly below this entry was a successful event, but nothing really materialized for me. Maybe the DJ market is oversaturated. My career has taken over, so I haven't had much time to work on new projects. However, eBay CD sales have been very consistent, and there seems to be a good amount of interest in a new CD. I have one! I just haven't generated the cover art or title. It's available as an mp3 here.

It's been over a month since I've updated this page, so bear with me.
Recent news. The eBay auction of my old Vestax PMC-46MKII mixer was successful. Best of luck to the new owner.
I've made some inroads in the Chicago house scene recently. I've partnered with Chicago Drum and Bass DJ/producer, L-Tek for a few club nights in the City. Be sure to check out Tuesdays at Dru's Lounge in Chinatown and DubFrequency, Wednesdays at BigWig.
In addition, I'm a finalist for the Inside-Chicago DJ Showcase in the Lair at the Vision nightclub. Thanks to the Inside-Chicago/Spundae staff for selecting my "Make it Schmoove" CD for the contest. I'm still waiting for the Chance:Zentra lineup to be announced.
RANT: The Chicago underground dance music scene is saturated with DJs now, and the demise of the rave scene robbed many local DJs of valid performance opportunities. Finding the motivation to output mix CDs is difficult when the local market for the music is diminished. I'm working on several projects, though and hope to have a new mix out by month's end.

Vestax PMC-46MK2 mixer on eBay! (Update: SOLD)
I'm offering my beloved Vestax PMC-46MKII rotary mixer for sale. This mixer has been with me through most of my mix CD's and countless sessions in my home studio. It's even on the cover of Special Technics, my deep house mix CD. I recently moved and upgraded my system to include a Rane MP2016 rotary mixer (with XP2016 attachment), so the Vestax needs a new, loving home. Custom-Finished Technics SL1200MK2 Turntables

Following on the heels of the first Technics SL1200 Customization Project, Carl Crawford (of 1988 Supercharged V6 Toyota MR2 fame) is offering a second set of custom Technics 1200 turntables for sale.
These decks are enhanced Technics 1200MK2 turntables that feature a professionally-applied (stripped, sanded, primed and clearcoated) full-detail finish containing PPG Harlequin (or ChromaFlair, Chameleon, or Kameleon) color-shifting pigment, coupled with a semi-gloss clearcoat. They change in color from a deep, burnt-yellow to a medium-red, to purple and deep metallic-blue, depending on the viewing angle and ambient light conditions. The tables have also been retrofitted with ice-blue LED's for the strobe-illuminator and speed selection buttons (For the added DJ Bling). The popular deck covers on the market can't come close to the quality job done on these tables.
While these turntables don't have the rich history that their predecessors did (being used by Bad Boy Bill, Mixmaster Mike or Sir Mix-a-Lot), they are truly rare and unique. The paint alone costs over $1000US.

I'm still promoting the heck out of my Make it "Schmoove" CD. I'm very proud of its acceptance so far. And after a flood of requests, I've decided to make all of my mixes available for download in RealAudio and 160kbps mp3 formats.

Big update. I'm a college graduate. Go Illini! But, I'm also unemployed. The market for computer people is really tough right now, so I'm beginning to look outside of the technology field.
In other news:
- I've resumed my mix CD sales on eBay. Here are my current auctions. View my eBay feedback.
- I'm planning to add my newest mix to the suite of CD's for sale.
- Due to the shadiness of RealPlayer, I'm posting truncated mp3 samples of my mixes.
- I'm slowly improving the mixes and photo pages.
- Apple finally fixed my defective Powerbook.
- We're planning to release our Computer Science (CS329) software engineering project:

The schoolyear (and my college career) is coming to a rapid close. My DJing activities have been curtailed by the demands of finals, graduation preparations, and the job search. I lost my "stable" corporate job with Kraft Foods, Inc. in March. In the interim, I've been sending resumes and cover letters like mad; to no avail.
Regardless of what the immediate future holds, I'm going to try to keep mixing. My newest mix has been available for download in mp3 and Real Audio formats since late March. With my end-of-term activities, I've not had the chance to complete the cover art, nor have I ramped-up CD duplication. Heck, I don't even have a title for the mix.
As of late, I've been tending to a small beef with Apple Computer, Inc. It seems as though the $3000 computer I purchased from them is a lemon. I bought a Titanium Powerbook G4 667/DVD from Apple in November, and it's paint job is flaking and blistering in a very nasty manner. I've brought this to Apple's attention, and have yet to receive a response. Take a look for yourself at:

It appears as though my favorite online record source, Groovetech.com, has awarded me a "DJ record bag stuffed with new deep and tech-house vinyl". Random. Saves me a few hundred bucks. CUSTOM PAINTED TECHNICS 1200's for sale!! These 1200's were painted with PPG Kameleon Automotive finish. This is a very expensive paint, and usually sells for $2000US/liter. As you can see in the pictures, the paint changes color depending on the viewing angle. In addition, the strobe illuminator and 33/45 LEDS have been changed to an ice-blue (instead of red) color. The tables themselves have a rich history. They were painted for a Mixmaster Mike (of Beastie Boys fame) performance in Champaign, Illinois USA. Bad Boy Bill and Sir Mix-A-Lot have also graced these decks. The tables are for sale. Please e-mail the creator for more information.

UPDATE!!! The tables were sold for $1280US on eBay. Stay tuned for the next Carl Crawford creation!
